On Sunday afternoon we took one of the hotel cars out to "The Golf Club" in Kingston Springs, about forty minutes away from Franklin.  It is very beautiful countryside with very curvy and hilly roads.  It looked like someone just carved a long winding road out of nowhere and then built a beautiful course.  The tent for the event was the biggest I have ever been in.  It was decorated so beautifully and the theme was "Mad for Plaid".

We found a table as close to the stage as we could get and settled in to watch as the golfers made it in from their first round.  Jack Nichlaus played with the junior golfers that day, and when they came in he signed autographs and took pictures with them.  He didn't sign for anyone else.  I was lucky I got the picture I got.  I just scooted in through the crowd of photographers and stayed low and got the shot. (Short people got some reason :)

Jack Nacklaus with a Jr golfer

Outback restaurant was set up at one end of the tent and served steaks, bread, green beans and salad.  There was also a bar set up.  Cheesecake was served for dessert.  It was all so delicious.
After everyone was finished being served, Vince got up on the stage and started the entertainment for the evening.  His first song was "One More Last Chance".

                               Vince Gill
Vince is a great guy and talks so sweet about Amy. He talked a little about the death of Amy's mom on April 30th, and how she brought her mom to their house when her time grew short.  He wrote this next song about Amy.

Comic Gary Mule Deer performed a really funny routine and then sang one of Johnny Cash's songs and featured Vince Gill on the guitar.

Con Hunley
Con Hunley sang "Georgia On My Mind".  He sings that song better than anyone I have ever heard before.   Well hear for yourself...

Mac Davis sang "Lord It's Hard To Be Humble" and "In the Ghetto"

Amy Grant closed the show that night.  She talked about her mom and one of her last request to her was that she never stop singing.

Friday Night music with Vince Gill and the Time Jumpers

Vince is just right of the center of the stage
sitting and right in the middle of the spotlight.

Saturday night's Paring Party

The night started off at the hotel with a silent auction and wine tasting.  After that, we were in the banquet room for the dinner and announcement of the golf teams.  The theme of the party was "Bring on the Bling".
Everyone was shimmering and shinny.  We had our dinner then Vince Gill was introduced and he welcomed everyone and thanked his volunteers.
Vince is playing with a new band called "The Time Jumpers"  and they play really old time country music.
The highlight of the night for me and also for Vince was the arrival of Jack Nicklaus.  He brought one of his clubs to be auctioned off durng the live auction.
The band played some really beautiful songs that made me want to get up and dance.  The band is full of some veteran musicians and all were showcaed.  Vince did some songs that he wrote.  It was all great.

Saturday fun!!

After breakfast on saturday, we headed out to see the Golf House of Tennessee in Franklin.  On the way there we spotted a garage sale sign and of course we had to stop.  Turns out that there were a few more in
the neighborhood.  So we went to all of them.  We actually found things to buy.  And it was fun to tell the sellers that we were from Louisiana.  One place had a huge garage next to their regular garage and they had
a 1931Model -A and a 1999 Mustang.  The room was very neat and full of memorbelia.
We shopped Old Town Franklin and had lunch there.
Tonight we are going to yhe paring party, should be lots of fun and we will get to see the pro golfers and celebrities that are playing in the tournament.

Pictures from Friday night and our site seeing on Saturday.

First day at "The Vinny"

We arrived safely in Nashville and picked up our car and headed to Franklin.  As soon athe as we checked into our room we had get ready for a party given by one of the sponsors of the event.
We took the van provided by The Vinny for the 30 minute ride to the party.  We shared the van with Daryle Lamonica and his wife Mary.  For those of you who do not keep up with football, he played college ball for Notre Dame and pro ball for the Oakland Raiders.   Nice, nice man.  Had a good visit with them on the way there and back.
Dick and Charlena Miller held tonight's party in their home and they are back door neighbors to Vince Gill.  He and Amy were not at the pary, nor could you see their house from the party.  It had a beautiful backyard and a lot of trees for privacy.
The home was beautiful and the food was awsome.  It actualy turned out to be a small birthday party for one of the friends of the Miller's who is involved with The Vinny.  So there was cake!!  And the cutest party favors, which we love to take home with us.
On the way back home is was raining pretty heavily. I know, you folks at home need it.  Plus it was 71 degrees here when we got here and in the 60's now.  It is going to be really cool.  We think we did not bring warm enough clothes.  I guess we will be shopping tomorrow.
Saturday night there will be a paring party, where the golfers find out which celebrities and which pros they will be playing with.  It is dinner and there will be entertainment, of course by Vince Gill and many others.
I will post pictures of tonight in the morning, these girls are already in bed and I need to hit the sack too.
Before I turn in I need to tell you that there are three of us this year.  Janie invited her good friend Rosie Shetler to join us.  She is a golfer herself and is loving this as much as we are.
Well, thats the skinny on everything so far.

Blog is up and running

We are waiting to board our flight, so glad blog is working.

a little last minute shopping planned and then we hope to  put together a little "glam" for a party on Firday night.
I have to finish packing and then get some rest.  I added a link to Janie's website.  It showcases her art projects.  Check it out in case you have not seen her beautiful work.

Countdown continues

Well, it's day 3 of the countdown to "The Vinny".  Checked the weather for Nashville/Franklin, Tn. and it is going to be in the cool 70's.  That is great news.
I am excited that I have four followers on the blog counting myself.  I am getting
more familiar with what I am doing on here.  Hopefully be this weekend I will
have it all figured out.  Can't wait to post my first picture of this trip.
I am going to try to post a list of the stars and pro golfers that we got to see/meet
last year.  Can't wait to see who will be there this year.  Janie said that some of them come back every year, so looking forward to that.

Pictures from last year's Vinny

Janie's Payne Stewart trophy given out every
year to the winning pro golfer.
Last year's pro winner Brandt Snedekar
Guitar signed by past pro golf winners
I guess the countdown has begun.  Only four days until we leave.  We fly to Nashville out of Houston, then drive to Franklin, which is only about 30 minutes away.  Thinking about how much fun this will be makes me feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas.
At least the little kid in me is feeling like that.  Thank goodness aging does not make you loose this emotion.  Think I will post some pics from last year for a preview of what is to come.

The Vinny

Once again I have been invited by my dear friend Janie Stine LaCroix to attend
the Vince Gill Pro/Am Invitational Golf Tournament held in Franklin Tennessee.
I am looking forward to see all the stars and golf pros and of course Vince Gill and
Amy Grant.
I am setting up this blog to share this trip, our stories and pictures.  I had so much fun
last year and I know this year will be even better.
